Drystar 5300 imager for CT scanner at Logan County Hospital Radiology Department

The Logan County Healthcare Foundation has helped the Logan County Hospital purchase a Drystar 5300 imager for the CT scanner in the radiology department. The Drystar 5300 is a digital printer that takes the place of the developing process. This one step process saves time as well as money.  “It speeds up the time sending the films to the radiologist,” said Darlene Rietcheck, Radiology department head. “What used to take 45 minutes to 1 ½ hours now takes about 5-15 minutes.”

The Drystar 5300 is ecological and user-friendly. There is no wet processing and no darkroom so there are no environmentally harmful chemicals or waste handling. It uses a single step process that requires no separation of exposure or heat processing. The A#Sharp technology used by the Drystar 5300 intensifies imaging to provide sharper more consistent image quality with a low operating cost. It also provides both distribution and print capability. The images can be printed and digitally sent to the radiologist via the Internet.

NuStep TRS 4000 recumbent cross trainer for the Cardiac Rehabilitation Department at Logan County Hospital

The Logan County Healthcare Foundation, Inc has purchased a NuStep TRS 4000 Recumbent Cross Trainer for the Cardiac Rehabilitation department at the Logan County Hospital . This is a machine that allows for total body conditioning of the cardiovascular and muscular systems.

One advantage of this machine is that the person using it can choose to work only the arms or only the legs to build upper and/or lower body strength. It also has a seat that rotates and locks 90° to the left or right making it much easier for wheelchair bound or frail individuals to get into the NuStep and use it effectively. The NuStep is designed so that some of the muscles can receive passive exercise while others work which can be very important in stroke suffers and it reduces knee, hip and shoulder strain. The overall result is that the whole body can be given a work out similar to cross-country ski machines but with an increased feeling of safety.
